The Hope Network defines a healthy individual as a person in a state of well being, and free from diseases of a mental, physical or spiritual nature. This section of our site is dedicated to the promotion of healthy individuals, living healthy lifestyles, with healthy attitudes toward themselves and others, by promoting free programs and services for individuals in need.
- Self care practices - Like hand washing, Self care practices are simple and effective ways to help prevent diseases, such as colds, flu, and food poisoning. These practices become more important in environments where large numbers of persons exist in confined quarters, or when a person lives outdoors with limited access to potable water and self care essentials. This section concentrates on practical, easy to implement solutions for those in need.
- Self care essentials – People in need require more than food, Shelter and clothing to thrive. Their are certain essential things needed to remain healthy and productive in daily life. Too often we take for granted that those living beneath the LICO (Low Income Cut Off) can afford these essentials for daily living. This however is increasingly not the case. For this reason, we have compiled a list of the 15 most requested items and termed them “essentials for daily living“. We have further subdivided them into three categories, health, hygiene and grooming. The complied list is presented below in the “Essential Needs Table“.
